Grain based distillery plant has advantages over molasses based distillery plant.
Molasses availability is seasonal and have several disadvantages. Main problem is its spent wash disposal. Moreover it may be slightly suitable for who already have sugar plant. They don't need to purchase molasses and bagasse for boiler.
For those who want to set up standalone distillery, it is advisable to go for Grain based plant. Government is giving interest subversion on loan for those who produce fuel ethanol. Moreover there is no marketing problem for selling of Ethanol. Oil companies need more ethanol for EBP Program as Government targeted to achieve 20% blending by 2025. They are taking measures to supply Grains such as maize, broken rice, etc. through nafed and fci to distillery plants who are setting up ethanol plants.The by product DDGS can be marketed as animal feed.
