Why to go for ethanol projects now?
India is one of the major consumers of petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, AFT, etc which are produced from crude oils. since crude oil availability and production in India is very less say around 13% of total requirements. as such we are forced to import crude oil from gulf and other oil rich countries.
Thus we are spending a lot of revenue for oil imports. again not only spending a lot of money but also depending on other countries.
To overcome these problems government of India brought up self resilient program
called ethanol blended with petrol (EBP).
in this program though initiated way back in 2002-03, but really focused from 2015 onwards only. The Blending of Ethanol was hardly 1.5% in 2013-14 to it increased up to 12% in 3023-23. The target is to blend up 20 % by the end of 2026.
To achieve the set target the union government encouraging to set up the ethanol production plants by giving incentives for loan interest and speedy approvals for necessary permissions.
