Government's help in setting up ethanol projects.
1. Ethanol industry is expected to grow upto 500% by the end of 2025-26.
2. Financial assistance schemes by ministry of consumer affairs through DFPD. That is department of food and public distribution.
3. Interest subvention schemes upto 50% or maximum of 6% of interest applicable by financial institutions which ever is high.
4. Long term agreement to buy the ethanol produced by OMCS. That is oil manufacturing companies. there by eliminating the marketing problems.
5. Reducing the GST on ethanol from 14% to 5%.
6. Government also provides the following
a. tax breaks.
b. grants
c. easy loans and speedy approvals.
d. provides loan guarantees to deserved entrepreneurs.
Further India being an agricultural based country has sufficient land resources to produce likes of sugar cane, rice, maize, and other cereals from which one can easily produce ethanol.
Ethanol supply increased from mere 38 cr.liters in the year 2013-14 to 1380 cr.litrers in the financial year 2023-24.
Further the demand for ethanol will continue to only increase in the coming year as well. As India is committed to self resilient in all the front particularly in energy needs any to reduce the cost of importing crude oils.
